Ethics

Wild Expeditions is not a normal safari company. Many of Ethiopia’s wildernesses are under threat from population growth, habitat erosion, industrialisation, and unsustainable travel.

Part-owned by the community interest investment vehicle Tekula Capital, we are whole-hearted supporters of sustainable travel as the key to enabling both the conservation and development of these wildernesses. Such travel is designed to directly benefit the communities for whom these wildernesses are home. It plays an important part in helping diversify livelihoods, and acts as both catalyst and support for sustainable development in general.

A significant part of the company’s profits is ploughed back into at-risk ecosystem projects. Given the level of the crises, much of our work is concentrated in the Omo Valley, which is under threat from both tourism of the very worst kind and from the damming of the Omo Valley.
